Nearing the end of the year…

Now that is close to the end of the year work at home people should have a good idea of how much they have made and prepare for tax time. I keep a monthly record of what I need to claim and all deductions. I have already given this info to my CPA who has done some quick figuring and told me to slow down a bit so I will not have to pay taxes.

This is a great time for me to take extra time off and luckily my jobs allow me to choose my own hours so I can do so. I actually slowed down in November based on the figures given to me. I pretty much have a clear amount I want to make each year and now I can spend the rest of the year preparing for the holidays!

Make sure you give notice when you quit!

Communication is very very essential when you are working from home. At one of my work at positions, we use Wiki extensively. We have a place to post time off, both vacations and extended for management to check on. You are also responsible to send management an email to let them know when you are taking time off. It amazes me how many people do not do this, and of course they are then sent frequent emails and will receive phone calls.

Better yet, people will just quit without letting us know. It is pretty easy to recognize when someone has quit, they have not logged in to do their work for a few days, have not responded to emails or phone calls. I really do not understand this at all. Just send and email and resign!

Sometimes I wonder the real reason why some of these people are actually working from home. We are now going over a new hiring structure, as we are getting busier, and our client base is growing, we cannot have as many people “trying” out a job for fun!

Have been Cutting back!

I cut back even more on working this past weekend! Worked two hours on Saturday and just a few on Sunday. My husband wants me to really cut back. He knows I enjoy my jobs, but wants me to focus more on leisure time since the weather is nice. I am trying to figure out a schedule and present it to the people I work with. I have already told one place I needed to work less, as the point of quitting my full-time job was to relax and enjoy life.

I have to admit I have been taking the extra money and doing quite a bit of spending. Let’s see, I bought a new bed, a generator (nothing luxurious but I want power ALL OF THE TIME - this is not a small generator it is a KEEP YOUR HOUSE RUNNING COMPLETELY when your lose power generator!) We lost power once too many times out here where I live. Next I want water filter system, I noticed my tea pots were always stained, and when I used the filtered water from the fridge it did not happen - sooo I was thinking I brush my teeth with that water, I shower in it, YUCK! Water system is next! Along with furniture, a larger TV to do my Wii Fit, and of course there are my many vacations! So I will have to start settling down on the spending if I cut my hours dratically, but you have to give in take when you control your work hours!

Chasen Research - Focus Group Earn $40-$150 for 2 Hours or Less!

This is a company I signed up for a long time ago, and I forget about it until they popped up out of the blue recently. Since, I live rurally, and do not have children I do not seem to get picked for many focus groups. However, I never give up and sign up for them, as you never know when you may for the profile and get chosen. Cool  To sign up for Chasen you must fill out a profile so they know when to match you up to a focus group.

Most of Chasen’s focus groups are held during the week in the evenings, however, they do have some on the weekends. They pay will vary depending on how long the session is, and no session will be any longer than two hours. Prior to your participation, you will be asked to fill out a survey to be sure you qualify for any upcoming groups.

I have done focus groups before for other companies, and they are always interesting and fun. Like I said, you never know when you may be chosen, so it never hurts to just sign up! Its a fun way to earn some spare cash.
